Madrasah Assembly – Tuesday, 6 January 2026
Madrasah is only a short part of our day, but its benefit lasts a lifetime. Come with sincerity, focus, and respect.
In today’s assembly, students were reminded about why we come to Madrasah and the importance of valuing it alongside school education. While school is often prioritised for future studies and careers, Madrasah is essential for learning how to live as Muslims and for success in the Hereafter.
Madrasah provides the knowledge needed to understand what Allah ﷻ has commanded and what He has prohibited. Knowledge in Islam is nūr (spiritual light), and this nūr is transmitted heart to heart through direct learning with teachers. The Qur’an and the teachings of Islam were conveyed to our beloved Nabi ﷺ directly by Jibrā’īl ʿalayhis salām, face to face, demonstrating the importance of physical presence and personal instruction.
Students were reminded that Madrasah is not limited to Qur’an, Fiqh, or Sīrah alone. It also teaches how to live as good Muslims — developing good character, practising correct manners, respecting teachers and elders, caring for others, and behaving responsibly within the community. Madrasah focuses on ta‘līm (learning) and ‘amal (practising what is learnt).
The importance of regular attendance and effort was emphasised. Madrasah time is limited, and students were encouraged to attend consistently, value the time they have, and make sincere effort during lessons. Concentration was highlighted as essential, both in Madrasah and at home, as focused learning brings greater benefit than longer periods without attention.
A brief reminder was shared to illustrate the lasting impact of Madrasah learning. A young child who began attending Madrasah learnt Bismillāh ir-Raḥmān ir-Raḥīm — In the Name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Merciful. Through this act of learning and remembrance, Allah ﷻ showed mercy to his father, reminding us that even small lessons learnt in Madrasah can carry great blessing.
Students were also reminded about punctuality, cleanliness, and respect — particularly respect for teachers, classmates, and Madrasah resources. Good behaviour and adab are an essential part of Islamic education.
We appreciate the continued support of parents in encouraging attendance, punctuality, and positive attitudes towards Madrasah. Through cooperation between home and Madrasah, we pray our children grow with knowledge, good character, and closeness to Allah ﷻ.
